Largely, my work is client-centred. This means our sessions are tailored around your specific needs on that given day as I draw from the theoretical tools I have learned. I believe it is important to understand our experiences holistically and not just from the mind, and this will be reflected in our sessions. I may invite you to become aware of physical sensations and/or breath to invite some curiosity, openness and awareness to other aspects of your being.

Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy contributes greatly to the approach I take with my clients. IFS is a trauma-informed and holistic approach that involves mind, body, and spirit and allows me to meet any presenting issues you may be experiencing with openness. IFS is a non-pathologizing approach and invites you to develop more understanding and compassion to your internal world. It understands multiplicity of the mind – meaning, we are not just “one” person who thinks and feels the same way all of the time. Through this approach I can help you enhance your relationship with yourself, as well as your friends, family, and the community that surrounds you. Please don’t hesitate to ask me more about IFS.

Other approaches I integratively draw from

  • Body-centered therapies (with focus on trauma)

  • Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy

  • Narrative Therapy

  • I am also certified with the Crime Victim Assistance Program (CVAP). This program establishes counselling services or expenses as a benefit which may be available to victims, immediate family members of victims and some witnesses.
